Re - Location, Location, Location
Hi Tanis and Mike,
Ocean Beach is located east of Whangarei City (20 to 30min) and the deck is at the end of the road adjacent to the top car park.
The area is public and so long as it can be prepared with seating arrangement an hour or so before your Ceremony generally out of consideration the public enter onto the beach via the lower car park which is well out of the way.
I have never had any issues photographing there for portraits and so on and when Brad and Rachel contacted the Whangarei District Council in regards to using the area for their wedding the answer was your welcome to it and go for it.
As for securing it as your venue, that is the luck of the draw on the day due to it being a public place, in saying that I have never seen anyone else use the platform for their wedding.
There is a lot of very photographical areas awaiting a bride and groom to complete the picture both at the location and on the way back into town or where ever the reception may be.
So long as the day is nice it certainly is a beautiful location for a wedding and one of my favourites.
I certainly hope this has been helpful.
David

Hi David,
I am a Canadian getting married in New Zealand in February (my fiance is a kiwi) and as I was looking through your photo's I noticed the Ocean Beach wedding for Brad and Rachel. Can you tell me exactly where that deck/platform area is where they had the ceremony? Any info you might have about it would be terrific, as I am just starting my planning and would love to have that spot. If you have any idea who I can contact about it that would be terrific.
Thanks in advance,
Tanis & Mike

Love your work, love what you do!
Myself and my partner have just bought in Parua Bay and I thought It would be a good idea to catch up with a few of the local photgraphers. If you get time have a look at my website to get a feel for what I do. There isnt any of my wedding work on there but I'm more then happy to send you some of my work incase something comes up and you need a second photographer for a Job.
Cheers
Joel
