Australasian Harrier Hawk
Australasian Harrier photographed perched on a fence post which is a common sight around rural New Zealand. Known by Maori as Kahu the Harrier is fully protected and very damaging to other species of birds it loves eating ducklings and pheasant chicks amongst many other small and vulnerable creatures.
I personally have a love, hate relationship with this bird, I love to photograph them but hate the destruction to other bird populations.
